Filmen I Needed Color sätter fokus på Jim Carreys konstnärskap och hur att han blev besatt att skapa. Carrey, som diagnostiserats med ADHD och länge plågats av depression hittade i måleriet ett sätt att hantera, undvika – och ibland även få tillfälle att uttrycka sina (mörkaste) tankar.
